Tucked in

She tucks her heartbeat in
Neatly, no creases and pleats;
She holds her oxygen in
Sanely, no heaving no squints.

Square face, cinch smile
Tipped with a pair of Ray Bans
She walks with her head high
Avoiding as many eyes as she can.

Even his, brown unassuming
Yet maintaining their steady gaze
Reading her like she were the Odyssey
Every letter, hyphen and comma.

She tucks her affections in
Keeps her dawns and sunsets unseen,
Regardless how long he watches and reads
She’ll never look unkempt for him.
