Embedded in darkness, delivered by Light

We’re embedded in several layers
Attractions and attachments and desires
And find that lust for more will never really tire
Despite endless drinks, the tongue is always on fire.

“Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw. ” Woman at the well. *1

We pursue with our lives this idea called satisfaction
But with every checkpoint find they are fractions,
Northern lights, snow capped peaks, incremental distractions
This tent we inhabit is always asking for renovations.

“…without Me you can do nothing” Yeshua *2

We’re covered in ourselves, our ideas of perfection
Thinking with every layer we grow in illumination
Yet inwardly much to our lamentation
Darkness has been growing with our permission.

“If, then, the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” Yeshua *3

Regardless the number of feelings we experience
The gold on all the objects we purchase
The darkness in our souls remains ever dense
Whilst our eyes are outside eternity’s lens.

“But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared?” Yeshua *4

And eternity is a Person
Not really a wrist watch called Precision,
The light that wears away the darkness
When He removes the layers on the soul that are ourselves.

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men; ” John the Apostle *5

Could we come to an end of the pursuit of we?
Be interred to revive in the life that is He?
We that were blind to be able to see?
The lost and captive now called found and free?

“At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. ” Yeshua *6
